We are looking for a member to join our small and friendly Garden & Plant team. The ideal candidate will be warm, enthusiastic, and have some knowledge of plants and garden care.
Job Title: Garden & Plant Team Assistant
Location: The Barn, Stanway, Essex
Hours: While this role is advertised as full-time, we are flexible and willing to consider part-time arrangements for the right candidate.
Reports to: Garden & Plant Team Manager
Summary:
We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to join our friendly Garden Centre team on a permanent basis. Our Plants Team is dedicated to delivering excellent customer service and expert advice, while maintaining and presenting our plant displays to the highest standard.
This is an outdoor role in all weather conditions and is physically demanding, so a good level of fitness is required. A solid understanding of plants is essential, as you will be advising customers and helping them choose and care for their plants. We are looking for someone who takes real pride in their work and enjoys being part of a passionate, close-knit team.
Responsibilities:
- Customer Service – Providing excellent service and friendly advice to our customers. Assisting customers with loading heavy items and plants into their vehicles.
- Garden Team Support – Support Garden Team with plant deliveries, topping up stock and watering.
- Plants & Groundskeeping – Replenishing plant displays, watering. Remove debris, weeding, fallen leaves from outdoor areas.

- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Great communication and time management skills
- The role is a very active one, so a good level of physical fitness is essential
- Ability to work some weekends
